The Benefits of Earning a Degree Online.

January 22, 2010
Sue Anne is a single divorced mother of 2 children.  She works hard every workday as a customer service representative in a large office pool, to make sure her children have a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, and food in their stomachs.  She doesn’t have a retirement plan, nor can she afford a college loan plan for her 16 year old daughter, who will be going to college soon. This a very common scenario in the United States.  With today’s global market and economy, the average person in the United States can not afford to stop working full time, and still further their education to stay competitive in the market.  A person’s educational qualities are assets that they need to be able to sell to an employer to help them succeed in life.

With this issue in mind, the employee can still obtain a degree to help further their career by getting an education through an accredited college online.  There are many schools and universities that are offering college level courses via the internet today.  Some schools also offer full degrees via an online study course.

Earn your degree in several different fields of study.  Some of the fields of study do require that you make a physical presence in a classroom, but most often, this situation is handled as such so that the requirement is only mandated once or twice per study cycle.

Making a plan and following it through when you are still working a full time job will help you succeed.  Online schools often have career counselors that can help you to make the best plan possible to help you earn your degree online.  There are also online live chat counselors that can help you plan your future.

Making the most of your career for you and your family is an important issue to anyone.  Not everyone can do the best from the beginning.  Perhaps you had the opportunity to go to college in your younger years and have earned a degree. How valid is that degree in todays market?  If it’s a degree from 20 years ago, then a lot of things have changed since then.  Getting an online education to freshen up your resume can help you get the promotion that you are looking for.

There are degrees of all kinds available from many online educational schools.  There are many different fields of study, including, Business, Nursing, Health Care, Education, Criminal Justice, Technology, Human Services, Design, Engineering, Paralegal and Law, and General Studies.

No matter your choice for your career, there are many options available to you to help you further yourself for you and your family.  Being a student of online studies is no longer a oddity,  it’s the norm. You can not afford to be out of the loop, as today’s world changes rapidly.

Heal The Economy With The Scholarships For Moms Program.

January 21, 2010
President Obama in a speech asked every american to enroll in college for at least one year and to sweeten the deal, he has made a college education well within the means of most households.  Federal grants, scholarships, and loans are now available to a broader section of the population through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.In a related endeavour, a partnership of colleges and universities has created their own reinvestment program called Project Working Mom: Putting Education to Work.  This venture is the creator of the “scholarships for moms” campaign advertised across the web.  Project Working Mom awards $2 million in scholarships to any mother wishing to obtain a degree.  While most of the scholarships are by and for online universities, the plan is well worth investigating.

Well, women make up 46% of the work-force. Sixty point seven percent (60. 7%) of these women are mothers with children under the age of three.  Despite being almost half of the work force, only 22% of single mothers make over $30K per year.  Eighty percent (80%) of single parent households are headed by women.

What is a scholarship?

It is no wonder that the majority of single parent homes fall below the poverty line. Ninety nine percent (99%) of American women will be paid to work at some point in their lives.  This proves that woman work status cannot be ignored.

Why focus on Mom?

The last scholarship type is sociology based.  Any scholarship awarded to students based on race, gender, nationality, or religion fall into this category.  These are mostly donated by the private sector and tend to be cash rich.  The scholarships for moms program also falls within this category because many sociology-based scholarships are endowed to women who are single mothers, young mothers, re-entry students, and African American.

Tuition endowments given to students who meet a set of criteria determined by the donating institutions is the definition of scholarships.  All scholarships fall within 5 different categories based on the eligibility factors.

Most common are the merit based scholarships. These awards are given to students who are outstanding academically, athletically, or artistically.  Scholarships endowed to students with great financial need are considered to be need based.  When a college or university gives funds to a student it is called an institutional scholarship.  Most tuition assistance awarded to students by private corporations fall into the category of “general” or “miscellaneous” and these encompass a variety of scholarship situations (such as a company offering tuition aid to children of employees).

Getting money for school.

Before applying for any private sector funds, all students must start their tuition assistance search by applying for federal financial aid.  Almost all scholarship programs such as those provided by Project Working Mom require eligibility to be determined by the results of your federal aid application.  Use the scholarships for moms program to rise above the poverty cycle.

Opportunities for career progression greatly depend on the level of specialized education nurses complete. A Bachelor degree in Nursing [BSN] provides an edge to employment opportunities and future advancement.  Graduates of this program are highly competent and provide professional nursing care in various work settings.  The program normally spans 4 years and is available dual mode through campus and online channels.  Some elements of the course work are physiology, biochemistry, statistics, assessment of health, health care budgeting and health care.

Experienced nurses may look forward to leadership and administrative roles. A Master’s degree in Nursing [MSN] paves the way for crystallizing their aspirations.  The program lasts for 2 years and students can pursue it through campus and online modes.  Career paths include nursing managers and nursing administrators. The degree equips nurses for advanced roles in various health care settings.  Graduates in this program can enter educational channels, collaborate in research and implement advanced practitioner nursing.  Subjects include curriculum development and evaluation, leadership and ethics, current health care issues, advanced health assessment, nursing management, health care epidemiology and infection control, to name a few.

License requirements and qualifying exams apply to practice in the field of nursing. Salaries are lucrative and vary on variables such as level of education, experience, location and employer.  As per Bureau of Labor Statistics, registered nurses drew median annual earnings of $50,000 in 2004.  The top end went up to $70,000. Specialized and formal education like BSN and MSN programs can improve salary ranges even further.

Education PhD Programs Online Help To Move Teaching Careers Forward

December 30, 2009

It is true that the demands of a teaching career can make it difficult to pursue an advanced degree.  However, education phd programs online can make it easier – because you’ll be able to complete most requirements at home on your own schedule.  The best part is that education PhD programs online may be less expensive and are eligible for student financial aid as well.

Overcoming Misplaced Priorities

With the corporate and Wall Street takeover of government and society and the corresponding transfer of wealth and resources from those who work for it to those who simply move it from one place to another, it seems that educators are increasingly required to do more and more with less and less – making it exceptionally difficult for the average teacher to advance his/her career.  One of the keys is distance learning; PhD education programs over the World Wide Web make it more feasible for more teachers to move up in their field.

In fact, for many, a phd education program online may be the only way to achieve those goals.  The requirements for an online phd program in education can be completed at home or at school before or after instructional time and during prep periods.  This kind of flexibility is just one of the beauties of education PhD programs online.

No Need To Worry About Accreditation

Education PhD programs online are offered though major state colleges and universities, so accreditation is not an issue; in fact, most accreditation colleges and universities offer distance learning.  PhD education therefore, when completed, entitles you to the same rights and privileges as it would any other PhD program.  Online learning simply means that instruction have been delivered over the World Wide Web.

Go At Your Own Pace

The most important advantage to an online PhD program in education lies in the ability to complete courses at your own pace.  When completing a PhD education online, you usually have up to one calendar year to complete an individual class – or you can complete it over a summer or semester break – it’s up to you.  It is yet one more example of how the flexibility of a distance learning PhD education can assist you in meeting your goals.

With education PhD programs online, it is usually not necessary to actually go to the university in person until you are prepared to present your dissertation.  This makes an online PhD program in education much more economical.  Most educators today find this to be the one best reason to take education PhD programs online.

Just a Few of the Most Interesting and Useful Degrees Offered Online.

December 11, 2009

Traditional campus based education is presently experiencing a decline in traditional, new student enrollment for the first time in a generation.  However, enrollment in online degree programs is increasing at an exponential rate.  This is the case for new and cutting-edge online programs both web-based and as well as for traditional brick-and-mortar universities.  Though many of the online degrees offered by both types of higher learning institutions are rather traditional in terms of subject matter, there are some truly innovative programs that target the needs and demands of a changing world and subsequently the changing career marketplace. Below is a list of these, the most innovative online degree programs in the world.

Due to retiring teachers and increased student primary and secondary student enrollment nationwide, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the number of teachers needed over the next decade is expected to grow by twelve percent.  Online Universities have decided to bring the classroom to students, regardless of geographic location.  For a Master of Arts degree, schools have designed a specific curriculum for the e-teaching environment, including the integration of video documenting in-classroom practices by accredited faculty, interactive lectures using streaming video, animation and various other new media technologies.

With the rapid expansion of the global healthcare industry over the past decade, there is a large demand for qualified, management-level professionals.  A Healthcare MBA can now be earned 100 percent online, which affords students the convenience and flexibility to complete this degree anywhere in the world, where they can access to the Internet. This degree program costs are comparable to other MBA programs from high-ranking private universities in the U.S.

Some Online school’s websites allows first-time visitors to test out this new technology to better answer any and all questions prospective students may have about studying online.

One of the Country’s leading Online Universities has recently begun offering the world’s first online degree program in Sustainable Business Science.  Uniquely, this program emphasizes the convergence of business management ethics and environmental sustainability.  This program offers notable courses such as: Survey of Green and Sustainable Business, Sustainable Enterprise Management, Business Sustainable Standards, and Sustainable Enterprise Planning.  One advantage to studying Online is that there are numerous satellite campuses throughout the United States available, available for use by all students enrolled at the Online school.

E-Commerce is a major growth industry worldwide, and industry leaders presently face a shortage of human capital. This veritable skills shortage has been impetus to Online educational institutions developing a degree program in E-Commerce and Internet Systems.  The curriculum is designed to give the program’s graduates a head start in the E-Commerce sector, and includes coursework from a number of subject areas.  Online programs were designed for individuals that prefer to study in their own time and in their own way.  Aimed at young and aging professionals alike, the University prides itself in the school’s offering of a newer type of training that is entirely online and available to anyone, anywhere in the world.
