Make Sure You Get A College Degree.
March 6, 2010Having a college degree is becoming more and more important in today’s society. Years ago it wasn’t as important as it has become today. People would get an entry level job and work their way up the corporate ladder one rung at a time. Times have changed over the past decade.
Even though we are surrounded by several different education opportunities most of them can’t compare with a college degree. Even though a college degree usually comes with a hefty price tag, and a long term time commitment, the payoff is worth its weight in gold. There is no life experience that can compare to the experience you’ll receive while achieving your college degree.
You are going to end up paying much less over your lifespan for a college degree than you would end up paying for not having one. This is meant in terms of earning potential. Each level of college you accomplish increases your overall earning potential and net worth. In reality this means that someone who has a two year college degree is going to have a higher potential earning than someone who only has a high school diploma. The same hold true for someone who has a 4 year degree versus and 2 year degree. Ninety five percent of students enter the work force after completing their bachelor’s degree. Students who decide to stay for their master’s degree will benefit even more than those with a bachelors degree.
The hurdle that most students face when making the transition between degrees is money. Let’s face it, there are times in life when we have to get away from school and get a job. The upside is it becomes easier to continue your education if you already have a career without sacrificing your family or your current career. Naturally you’re going to have to sacrifice your time but the good news is you can do it over a longer time frame. There are several ways to further you education with online classes.
You are much more likely to get your foot in the door with a degree than you are with life experience. There will be times when your degree has nothing to do with the job you’re applying for however it shows that you are the type of person that starts something once you finish it. Remember a college degree is becoming more and more important in today’s business world. You need to take whatever steps necessary to obtain your degree so you can reap the benefits for years to come.
